That said either do a much better job than conventional metal rims and you will feel a much improved steering response.  Alloys also dissipate heat much more effectively than metal wheel rims which helps to greatly improve breaking performance.

Did you know you can buy alloys from most manufacturers via the “aftermarket”.  Yep you can get BMW alloys, Mercedes alloys etc.  from the local dealer so there is no need to go the third party route if you don’t want to.

For the coming year coloured alloys appear to be all the rage.  Whilst not to my personal taste there are some wicked designs in red and blue from manufacturers such as Oz.

Some of the prices charged for alloy wheels can be prohibitive for many but it really doesn’t need to be that way.  You could always consider purchasing a set of used alloy wheels and there are many online stores such as eBay where they can be bought very cheaply.

Remember when purchasing anything online to ask the seller questions.  Don’t be afraid to ask for confirmation that the wheels haven’t been stolen and also ask for damage and repairs.  Don’t view it as a place to just to get some cheap alloy wheels.  Whilst you can get a great bargain if you’re careful sometimes you get what you paid for because you didn’t ask enough questions. 

Oh, and most importantly make sure the wheels will fit your car.  I can still remember a mate of mine buying a set for his Alfa only, much to his embarrassment, to find out they were not compatible.
