A curling iron or curling tong can be a small appliance that helps the person create curls on the hair. Is that this tool whatever was invented on your own or can it be a modern invention? More often than not, people believe they’ve got invented something when actually all they did was modify the original inventions through technological advancements from the modern world.

Do not believe this but irons are used throughout history to produce curls. The ancient people from Babylon, Assyria, and Persia are often shown with curly hair and curly beards. In ancient Egypt a shaved head was the custom due to the hot temperature when they attend ceremonies, they wore short or curly wigs which were either short or long. Hair styles with the nobles and upper classes on the Roman empire were curls supported with wire frames were piled high in the head. Wigs and big hair with curls were popular with women along with men inside 1700s. The common thing with these is the use of hot iron to curl natural hair, wigs, and even the beard. You only need to read history and see this fact.

The problem with early curling iron was that temperature control would have been a tricky thing. A good many iron users got their skin burned or their hair singed. Seeing the curling iron being a valuable tool for enhancing beauty various attempts at modernizing it happened throughout the years. It will never be established who and when the modernization with the curling iron started but here are notable persons in history credited for inventing their version of this tool.

In 1866 the inventor Hiram Maxim filed a patent for improving the look from the curling iron, he was only 26.

By 1870, stylists Maurice Lentheric and Marcel Grateau applied hot air drying plus a pair of curling tongs to popularized the Marcel Waves.

In 1906 Charles Nesslar, a hairdresser placed borax paste towards the hair then used an iron to permanently put the curls into place. But because of the not enough better technology, this method usually took twelve hours to end. For that reason, people never really got to patronizing this method.

Eight years later in 1914, men named Eugene Sutter created a dryer that had 20 heaters and adapted Nesslars method to make the hair curling process more efficient. Later the name Gaston Boudou became known when he modifying Sutters work by adding rollers that run automatically.

In 1946 Jessie T. Pope invented the thermostatically controlled curling iron and patented it with help from Eleanor Roosevelt.

From these came beauty and beauty product companies invented their own modification adding features here high. With such extensive use and modification it certain that this curling iron could be the foundation of most styling tools found available in the market today.
